Neonatal Diabetes Discussion Group

A threaded discussion group is being hosted on the website, ChildrenWithDiabetes.com as one of their special interest forums at: http://forums.childrenwithdiabetes.com/

The purpose of this forum is for registered participants of this study (not open to the public, sorry!) to exchange questions, ideas and experience about all aspects of managing neonatal diabetes.

For example, someone may pose a question about how to check for ketones in a baby, and all other particpipants can respond to this "thread" with what experience they may have had with this issue, or ask further questions, etc.  Other participants may have questions about the types of mutations that can be treated with sulfonylurea pills instead of insulin, and the entirely new way of managing their diabetes -- others out there may have a few years or months more of experience and can provide helpful advice.

If you are interested in participating in the discussion group and you or your child was diagnosed with diabetes under a year of age, or are a doctor taking care of such a patient, then please register as a participant of the registry study before proceeding to the discussion group.  There is a separate consent for participation in the discussion forum that you should be sure to review.

If you are a registered participant, then please follow this link:

You will need to complete a one-time registration with their site (if you haven't already done so in the past), and please remember the user name and password that you create.  All registered participants should have access to the forum, which should appear on your personal list of forums.  If you completed the consent process for our study only recently, please wait a few days for the Neonatal Diabetes group to appear on your list of forums.  If you have any problems with accessing the forum, please contact us, or Jeff Hitchcock, who runs the ChildrenWithDiabetes.com website.
